These bars are to die for. They will disappear before your eyes (probably into your stomach). They have a gooey cookie crust, a marshmallow center and a fudgy chocolate frosting to top it all off. Make these!
Preheat oven 350ºF.
For the bars, cream together the sugars and shortening. Add vanilla and mix to combine. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda and salt. Slowly add to the egg and sugar batter, mixing well until combined.
Spread batter into a 9×13 pan and bake at 350ºF about 10 minutes.
Remove from the oven and top with marshmallows. Place back in the oven and bake until marshmallows are puffed and browned. Remove from the oven and let cool.
For the frosting, combine butter, sugar and milk in a small saucepan. Stir and bring to a boil. Boil for less than a minute, then remove from the heat.
Stir in chocolate chips and spread over the top of the cooled marshmallows and crust.
Chill or let sit at room temperature. If you do chill this, make sure to remove it from the fridge about an hour before serving so the chocolate can soften.

I have a very similar recipe that was passed down from my grandmother. We called them Marshmallow Fudge Bars. They are a family favorite. We use a different recipe for the chocolate, but I will definitely have to try yours. They look delicious!
