Description

Salty, crunchy, creamy, chocolatey, caramel-y bars! If you like the ones at Starbucks you’ll love these. They’re quick and easy and go perfectly with a cup of coffee.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Pretzels, Crushed (regular Or Gluten Free)
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter, Melted
  • 2 teaspoons Sugar
  • 4 ounces, weight Chocolate Chips
  • ¼ cups Heavy Cream
  • 20  Kraft Traditional Caramels
  • 2 Tablespoons Milk

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Mix together the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar in an 8″x8″ glass baking dish. Press down evenly with a fork to form a solid crust and bake for 8 minutes.

Place chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Microwave heavy cream for a minute and if it’s not boiling heat for another minute – keep heating until it’s boiling. Then pour hot cream over chocolate. Let the mixture sit for five minutes and then stir until smooth.

Unwrap caramels and place them in a small bowl with the milk. Microwave on high in the same manner as above, until hot and bubbly. Stir until smooth.

Pour chocolate over baked pretzel crust.

Drop melted caramel by the spoonful over chocolate. Use a knife to give it a marbled effect.

Refrigerate until firm enough to cut into squares.

Makes 16 squares.

one cup of pretzel crumbs was not enough—or else there was too much butter!! It barely covered the bottom of the dish, and even though I baked it at least 10 min longer, it never got “crusty”, just bubbling butter! The cream boiled in 30 sec in my microwave (good thing I was watching it). Because the crust never got hard, it never firmed up enough to cut into squares. Now the TASTE was great, but they didn’t turn out very pretty.
