Description

Old fashioned cobbler made easy and melt in your mouth delicious!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Strawberries, Fresh Or Frozen
  • 1 cup Sugar, Plus 1/4 Cup For Strawberries If Using Fresh
  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1  Egg, Beaten
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
If you are using fresh berries, rinse them with cold water and let them drain for about five minutes, then add 1/4 cup sugar to them and stir gently. This will produce a little juice. Add berries and juice to an 8×8 greased casserole dish.
If using frozen berries, thaw completely and drain all of the juice off before putting them into the greased casserole dish. More juices will cook out during baking time.
Combine the first three ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk to blend completely. Add the beaten egg and whisk to incorporate it into the flour mixture. Using a fork, finish blending the beaten egg into the mixture, forming it into a dough. The dough will be crumbly and that’s a good thing!
Crumble the dough over the top of the berries. Thinly slice the butter and arrange on top of the dough. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

Very easy and yummy dessert. I added finely chopped pecans to the topping and it was fabulous. Thanks for sharing.
