Creamy, dreamy and refreshing homemade orange ice cream. A snap to make, yet so delicious!
Note: You’ll need to freeze the canister of your ice cream maker ahead of time so it’s very cold when you are ready to make the ice cream (at least 24 hours).
This recipe yields about 1 quart of ice cream.
Whisk whipping cream and sugar in a mixing bowl until sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Add half-and-half and whisk briefly to incorporate. Mix in orange juice concentrate. Immediately add mixture into the frozen canister of your ice cream maker. Run ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s instructions. (My ice cream maker produces soft-serve ice cream in about 25 minutes).
Once at the soft-serve stage, you can transfer the ice cream into a freezer safe airtight container, cover with parchment paper and freeze. It can store in the freezer for up to a couple of months though it has never lasted that long at my home. So I cannot vouch personally for the taste after two or three months. I know it is wonderfully creamy and refreshing for at least a couple of weeks later.
Recipe slightly adapted from “Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book”.
