Nutty Blondie Bars are simple to make, chewy and delicious!
(Recipe adapted from Mark Bittman.)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and 8 or 9-inch square pan with butter and dust with flour.
Cream together the butter and sugar, and then add in Amaretto and the egg. Scrape down the sides of the bowl in necessary to ensure everything is well blended. Gently stir in the salt and flours until fully combined, then stir in the nuts. Pour the mixture into the greased pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until it has barely set in the middle. It’s far preferable to have them be a bit undercooked rather than over to get that delicious chewy texture.
Cool on a wire rack and eat within a day or so, which shouldn’t be a problem at all.
