Description

An easy way to use up that “leftover” pizza dough, these mini chocolate calzones are the perfect ending to an Italian, or any other, dinner.

Ingredients

  • ½ whole Recipe For Pioneer Woman's Pizza Crust (See Ingredients And Recipe Below)
  • 2 bars (about 1.5 Oz. Bar) Godiva Or Other Chocolate
  • 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • _____
  • FOR PW'S PIZZA CRUST:
  • ½ teaspoons Instant Or Active Dry Yeast
  • ¾ cups Warm Water
  • 2 cups Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ cups Olive Oil

Preparation

To make the pizza dough, proof the yeast in the water for 5 minutes. Mix the flour, salt, and olive oil. Then mix in the water and yeast until the dough forms a ball. Turn the ball out into an oiled bowl. Cover with a damp cloth, set in a warm place, and allow to rise for 2 hours.

Preheat the oven to 450F. Divide the pizza dough into 16 equal balls. Flour your workspace and roll the balls into approximately 3.5-4 inch rounds. Transfer the rounds to a baking sheet. Place 1/8 piece of Godiva chocolate bar in the center of each round (1/2 of each square). Fold the dough over and smoosh the edge closed with a fork. Be sure to really press the edge so that the chocolate doesn’t leak out.

Move the little calzones around as needed. Brush the tops with the melted butter. Then sprinkle on the sugar and cinnamon. You can sprinkle them separately or mix them together. Allow to rise for 5-10 minutes. Bake the calzones for 15-20 minutes, until the dough is cooked through and light golden brown. Dip in frosting or icing, or brush with a bit of melted butter.
