Words cannot adequately describe the deliciousness of these bars. Rice Krispie Treats, look out—there’s a new kid in town!
Unwrap the candy bars. The easiest way I found was to use kitchen scissors. Cut the bars in half, dump into a large saucepan and toss the wrapper. Resist eating the candy. I know it’s difficult, but it will be worth it. Promise.
Grease a 13×9 baking dish and set aside.
In large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt candy bars and 2 sticks of butter. Yes, 2 sticks. Now is not the time to worry about fat grams and cholesterol, people. We are making deliciousness. Stir occasionally. Remove from heat when thoroughly melted. No matter how much you want to stick your finger in to taste, don’t. Trust me.
Pour cereal into the melted caramel goodness and mix well. Spread the mixture into a greased dish. Ok, go ahead and sneak a taste.
In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt chocolate chips and the remaining 1 stick of butter. Stir occasionally. You could use the microwave to melt them too, but I’m old fashioned. Either way, be sure not to burn the chocolate or your tongue when you “check” for doneness. Don’t judge me.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal. Smooth. Lick fingers.
Refrigerate for 1-2 hours. You want the chocolate top to be hard. Cut into as many bars as you’d like. Share if you must.
