Description

These aren’t your run-of-the-mill brownies, but the good news is that they’re roughly 125 calories a square AND they satisfy your chocolate craving.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Applesauce
  • 2 whole Ripe Bananas, Peeled And Mashed
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • ½ cups Cocoa Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1-½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 cups Shredded Zucchini (peel First)
  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • ½ cups Almonds, Chopped (optional)
  • ¼ cups White Chocolate Chips
  • ¼ cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • Powdered Sugar (optional; For Presentation)

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 9×13 baking pan.

2. In a large bowl mix applesauce, bananas and sugar together.

3. Add vanilla, cocoa powder and cinnamon, mix well.

4. Mix in baking soda, salt and zucchini. Then stir in flour.

5. Fold in nuts (if using) and chocolate chips. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean (you don’t want them dry). Then remove the pan from the oven.

7. Let the brownies cool for 10-20 minutes, then slice into squares. Sprinkle with powdered sugar for a pretty plate.
