Peach cobbler in a jiffy!
Drain fruit and reserve juice.
Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar. Mix the remaining dry ingredients (except remaining sugar) together and add alternately with the milk.
Pour batter into an ungreased 8″x8″ baking pan. Spoon the fruit over the batter and arrange peaches cut side down. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup sugar and pour reserved juice (1/2 cup) over the top. Do NOT stir!
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes at 375F.
