A tasty, easy use for over-ripe bananas. No ice cream maker needed! The over-ripe bananas are the perfect sweetness so no added sugar is necessary, and the ice crystals in the frozen banana magically create the perfect consistency for soft ice cream!
Peel the bananas, and cut them into 1 inch pieces.
Place these pieces in a freezer bag or freezable container and freeze until solid – at least 3 hours.
Pulse the frozen banana pieces in the bowl of a food processor until the banana is in coarse chunks.
With the machine running, slowly pour in the cream. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
Run for a few minutes more until the ice cream becomes thick. If the ice cream is too thick, you can thin with the added optional milk or half-and-half.
Add vanilla or liqueur of choice.
Presto! It should be the consistency of soft-serve ice cream and can be served immediately or frozen in a separate container before serving. Can keep for up to 4 days.

We used to make banana “ice cream” kind of like this when I was a kid….only my mom did just the bananas in a meat grinder/processor….none of the extras…I have some bananas in my freezer just waiting for the chance to become ice cream!

I believe you can, although I haven’t tried it with other fruits. I think my parents used to do something similar with frozen mangoes!
