A handwritten recipe for brownies with marshmallows, walnuts and frosting.
Brownies:
Cream the butter and sugar. Combine to mix the egg, melted unsweetened chocolate, and milk; beat together. Sift and add the flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix in the chopped walnuts and vanilla.
Frosting:
Melt the butter. Add the sugar and milk. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Cook over low heat for 10–12 minutes then gradually add the unsweetened melted chocolate, stirring constantly. Remove pan from heat. (I leave the icing in the pan until it’s thick for spreading.)
Pour brownie batter into a greased square dish. Bake at 325F for about 25 minutes.
When brownies are done and while hot, add miniature marshmallows on top until covered and frost with chocolate frosting when cool.

PS why are they called “hand written” brownies?

Just made your recipe, added a melted caramel layer between the marshmallows and the frosting…also add a teaspoon of vanilla the the frosting, I’l lwt you know how the grand girls like them after dinner. Thanks for the inspiration.

I had something like this as a small child and have been searching for the recipe for a long time… I kept thinking it was a 7 layer bar recipe, but not anymore… the cookie I remember looks just like your photo…. I can’t wait to make these. Thanks so much!
