Description

Comfort food at its best. My grandmother’s most requested recipe. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, or they way she liked to serve it with a little cream over top.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 stick Butter, Softened
  • Cinnamon, For Sprinkling
  • DRY INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 4 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • WET INGREDIENTS:
  • ½ cups Milk
  • 3 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1 whole Large Egg
  • 10 whole Medium Peaches, Peeled And Cut Into Small Dice

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9″ baking dish.

Boil together sugar and water to make simple syrup. Once sugar has dissolved into the water, remove the syrup from heat and set aside. You can also do this in a microwave, it usually takes about 1 minute 30 seconds, just heat it up and stir to combine. Pour the simple syrup into a 13 x 9″ baking dish.

Mix the dry ingredients together and set aside.

Mix the wet ingredients and set aside.

Add wet ingredients to the dry – mix well.

Roll out dough onto a floured surface into a 1/4 inch thick rectangle shape. Spread with soft butter (you don’t have to use all the butter, just enough to cover the dough.)

Spread peaches over dough. Roll up like a jelly roll. Cut 1″ slices and place in a 13×9 inch baking dish that has the syrup poured into the bottom.

Sprinkle top with as much cinnamon as you like. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
