Description

This is my grandmothers old recipe, and according to many in my family, it’s the BEST APPLE PIE YOU WILL EVER TASTE. I know the sour cream in the recipe seems odd, but we’re German and everything has sour cream in it. (Unless it is pickled or fried … and still sometimes even if it is fried.)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Prepared Pie Crust
  • 1-½ cup Sour Cream
  • 1 can (14 Oz) Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • ¼ cups Frozen Apple Juice Concentrate, Thawed
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1-½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 3 whole Medium Golden Delicious Apples, Peeled, Cored, And Sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • _____
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • ¼ cups Frozen Apple Concentrate, Thawed.
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Bake pie crust for 15 minutes.

In a small bowl, beat sour cream, sweetened condensed milk, juice concentrate, egg, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth. Pour into the prepared crust and bake for 30 minutes or until set. Cool.

In a large skillet, cook apples in butter until tender but crisp. Arrange on top of the pie.

To make the glaze, in a small saucepan, combine frozen apple concentrate (thawed), cornstarch, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Mix well over low heat. Cook and stir until thickened.

Drizzle pie with apple cinnamon glaze. Serve warm or chilled.
