I came across an old index card for this recipe written by my grandmother who passed away last year. We always had fun looking through recipes and cookbooks. This is a family favorite and as Grandma wrote on the bottom of the recipe, “Make sure you enjoy!”
In a double boiler, whisk together the brown sugar, flour, and cornstarch. Add just enough milk to make a paste. Mix in beaten egg yolks. Stir in the remainder of the milk. Cook slowly, stirring constantly. When the mixture is thick, remove from the heat. Add butter and vanilla.
Pour the filling into the baked pie crust. Refrigerate.
