This was one of my favorite things to help my mom make at Easter growing up. I still love to make them as an adult! They make a great dessert and a cute decoration to put on your place settings. You can fill these nests with jelly beans, chocolate eggs or custard with fresh fruit. And you can eat the nest too! It’s delicious!
Crumble shredded wheat. Add coconut, sugar and butter, and mix together. Press into large muffin cups to form nests, about 10 to 12. Bake at 350F for 10 minutes. Cool in the pan.
Loosen edges with a knife and carefully take the nests out of the pan, as they can break easily. Fill as desired with custard, fresh fruit, candy, jelly beans, chocolate, etc.
