Creamy and delicious with only 3 simple ingredients! Perfect for a hot summer day!
For dulce de leche:
If you start with sweetened condensed milk, in a large pot completely submerge a can (label removed) and boil for 2.5- 3 hours. Make sure can is completely submerged in the water the entire time! Allow to cool completely and open to find dulce de leche.
You can also use store bought dulce de leche (about a cup).
For ice cream:
Heat milks together, add dulce de leche and stir until dissolved. Allow to cool (I put it in the freezer to get really cold) and put in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s instructions. Freeze for a few hours before serving.

This was my first time making homemade ice cream and I used your recipe because of the easy ingredient list. Loved it!

wonderful, simple and perfect! My husband was in heaven! The only change I would make would be to save 1/3 of the carmel and add to the end after it has been mixed in the ice cream mixer, then to swirl it in, so that it had carmel chunks in it.

This I will have to try. Love rich ice cream.

The recipe looks very jummy!
Shawna – in South Africa we call Dulce de Leche Caramel and you can buy it in tins, but otherwise we also boil the condensed milk (it’s cheaper). But Mightyash is right – if you don’t keep it completely covered you’ll have caramel on the ceiling for months!

@Shawna, yes the can could explode if you don’t keep it completely covered with water the whole time. Make sure you set a timer so you don’t forget about it. It is very hard to get off your ceiling!
