This is my grandmother’s recipe.
Sift dry ingredients.
Beat yolks until thick and lemon-colored. Add vanilla.
Add dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add dates and nuts. Fold in slightly beaten egg whites.
Spread 1/2″ thick in a greased baking pan. Bake moderately slow in the oven (about 25 to 35 minutes at 325F, depending on pan).
Cut and roll in powdered sugar.

EXCELLENT!! The fluffy egg whites add a delicious crisp to these bars that remain moist and incredibly delicious!!!
