This is the basic recipe for dessert cream cheese balls. See the note below for suggestions on variations.
I’ve been making these for several years now. They are my most requested recipes.
Using a mixer, cream together butter and cream cheese. Add sugars and vanilla mix well. Add your desired mix-ins (see suggestions below). Form into a ball. Then roll on the crumb or nut mixture and place on a waxed-paper-lined plate.
Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Refrigerate 1 hour. Serve on graham crackers or small cookies.
Note:
Here is the list of the different variations you can make. Please note I’ve only made a couple of fruit ones. Fruit must be well drained.
Let your imagination go wild! I look forward to seeing your personal creations.
Each is for 1 ball. Recipe may be multiplied for gift giving.
Variations:
1. Mint chocolate chip or mint Andes candies: roll in crushed chocolate wafers or Thin Mint cookies.
2. Reese’s Pieces, Butterfinger, Reese’s Cups: roll in crushed peanut butter cookies.
3. Oreo chunks: roll in crushed Oreos.
4. Milano chunks: roll in crushed Milano.
5. Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, Nestle Crunch: roll in chocolate wafers.
6. Mounds and Almond Joy: roll in a combined mixture of crushed chocolate wafers and shredded coconut, or roll in crushed macaroon cookies.
7. Chocolate chip, mini chocolate chips, mini baking m&ms: roll in crushed chocolate chip cookies.
8. Toffee bits: roll in crushed macaroon cookies or crushed chocolate wafers.
9. Pineapple: mix in well drained crushed pineapple, then roll in crushed macaroons and chopped macadamia nuts.
10. Pecan sandie chunks: roll in chopped pecans.

I am confused…What are the mix- ins? Are the suggestions you listed for rolling the balls in or for mixing in with the cream cheese?
