In the south, we call these “slap yo momma!” good. My family begs for these often, but I usually only make them around the holidays. These are very rich, so watch your waistline!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
To make the base, in a bow, stir together the cake mix, melted butter, and 3/4 cup pecans; blend well. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. (I use a warm spoon so the mix doesn’t stick.)
Prepare the topping by stirring together in a bow the brown sugar and cream cheese. Mix well. Spread topping evenly over the base in the pan. Sprinkle with the remaining 3/4 cup pecans.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until edges are browned and the cheese topping is set. Cool completely before cutting. Store in the refrigerator.
