Description

Chocolatey, caramelly, gooey yumminess topped with oats. How can you go wrong?

Ingredients

  • 1-½ cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1-½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1-½ cup Quick Oats
  • 1 cup Butter, Softened
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, Softened
  • 12 ounces, weight Jar Of Caramel Ice Cream Topping
  • 12 ounces, weight Bag Of Milk Chocolate Chips

Preparation

Mix everything except the chocolate chips and caramel sauce together (yes, that is 1 cup plus 2 Tablespoons of butter) and press half of the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 pan and bake at 350F for 10-15 minutes. Remove from the oven and pour 1 bag of chocolate chips over hot crust. Pour 1 bottle of caramel ice cream topping over the chocolate chips. Top with remaining crust. Just sprinkle it over the caramel. Return to the oven and bake 10-15 minutes more. Watch it to make sure it doesn’t overcook.

I make this same recipe (almost-mine also have a little cinnamon in the crust and more chocolate and caramel) and they are divine. A nice final touch is to sprinkle just a pinch of sea salt over the top of the hot crust when they come out of the oven the second time…every flavor shines through brilliantly. Mmmm.

These are yummy, but very sweet and rich so I cut the pan into more than 15 pieces. Went down very well at the party I took them to – was asked for the recipe and no one could believe how easy they are to make. Will definitely make again.
