Description

Seriously fudgy, dense brownies. These are for real.

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Squares Baking Chocolate
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Flour
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2 cups Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Start by chopping the chocolate squares and melting them in the microwave with the butter.

In a medium mixing bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add sugar and beat again until mixture is light yellow. Sift dry ingredients into the egg/sugar mixture and mix to combine. Add vanilla and melted chocolate/butter. Mix everything together until it’s fully combined. If you’re going to add the chocolate chips, do that now.

Pour the batter into a 9×13 pan and bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. I say mostly clean because I tend to underbake my brownies by a little bit so they’re extra fudgy. Let cool for about 20 minutes and cut into 24 squares. Die of happiness.

These brownies won over my brownie hating mother in law. Definitely a keeper in my recipe repetiore.

I thought these were OK, but I am pretty picky with brownies. I found them to be a little too sweet, so maybe I’ll try reducing the sugar to see what happens. Also, the chocolate chips all sank to the bottom and basically formed a crust, so I would probably omit those next time.

Great brownies, had a crunchy crust on the top but the inside was soft. I added walnuts to the mix, definitely a keeper!
