An English dessert made with bananas, sweetened condensed milk and whipped cream all in a graham cracker crust. Delicious and rich!
To make toffee: In a large, covered pot, boil can of unopened sweetened condensed milk for 4 hours. The can must be completely submerged in water the entire time. Allow the can to cool completely before use.
For the crust: Prepare a homemade graham cracker crust by mixing the graham cracker crumbs with softened butter and press mixture into 8-inch pie plate. Bake in a 350-degree oven for 5 to 8 minutes. Or save yourself a little time by using a store bought pie crust.
For the whipped cream: Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar and vanilla together until stiff peaks form.
To prepare: Once crust and toffee have cooled, spread the toffee filling into the pie crust. Slice bananas and layer on top of the filling. Spread whipped cream on top of bananas and sprinkle with chocolate shavings or chocolate sprinkles.
Cook’s note: This is a very rich dessert so serve in relatively small slices.

Thanks! I think I’ll try the crockpot recipe soon and see how that works. It looks so yummy!

Hi Starving! I usually just put the cans in the water then bring it up to a boil. Keep the water boiling the entire time. This is why I do a few cans at one time because it does use up a bit of energy to keep the water boiling. I have been told that the premade cans of dulce de leche work well with this recipe if you didn’t want to boil the cans for that long a period of time. Also, I’ve heard of some people using their crock pots. Put the cans in the crock pot at night and cover with water. In the morning, take cans out and they should have the same results. I haven’t actually tried that yet but it seems like it should work. Let me know how it turns out for you!

I researched the concept of boiling the cans and saw lots of different answers. After the water comes to a boil, do you then add the can? Or do you put it in the water before the water boils? After the can is in the water, do you leave it at a high boil or do you turn the heat down? Thanks! So excited to try this yummy looking pie!

Jeri – thanks so much for the great comments and the comparison between the boiled sweetened condensed milk & pre-made, canned dulce de leche. I was curious how it would turn out. Glad you’re enjoying this so much!

Okay – we’ve had this dessert twice in the last 4 days! After reading some of the other comments, I decided to try it with the Dulce de Leche (I had a can in the pantry). Must say it turned out nicely as well. But the original recipe has just a little “something extra”, so when time permits, I’ll boil my own Eagle Brand. Thanks again, you’re a rock star!
