My parents owned a bakery during WW 2. My mother would make these up as tarlets and sell them for five cents each.
Combine sugar and corn syrup in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Beat eggs at medium speed till blended. Gradually add the hot sugar mixture to the eggs, beating constantly. Stir in butter, vanilla and pecans. Pour mixture into pie shell; bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
My mother (Babe) used to make these all the time. When she and my daddy had a bakery, she made them up as tarts and they sold them for 5 cents apiece. Guess how long ago that was!
