Description

Apples, Pears and whole wheat muffins combine to make a great dessert, awesome with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 3 whole Pears, Peeled And Chopped
  • 2 whole Apples, Peeled And Chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Honey
  • 3 whole Medium Whole Wheat Muffins, Chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 4 slices (pats) Of Butter

Preparation

1) Toss fruits with nutmeg, cinnamon, honey – set it to the side.

2) Grease an 8X8 square pan with butter. Pour fruits into pan.

4) Combine chopped muffins and brown sugar in a bowl (you may drizzle a little honey into this mixture if you like and also add some cinnamon and nutmeg)

5) Sprinkle muffin/sugar mixture over the top of the fruit.

6) Place pats of butter on top of the mixture – space them out evenly, on in each corner. You may also cut them in half and place them through out the dish.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 min. (You may cook longer if you like the fruits softer, I like mine to still have a bit of crunch to them.)

Cooks notes:

This was a recipe of necessity – I had some leftover homemade whole wheat muffins. I also had a very large haul of apples and pears given to me by my uncle.

I sat down last night and came up with this idea in order to get some of these used up before they went bad. It was an experiment that turned out wonderfully, my husband and kiddo really enjoyed this too. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the rest of the pears and apples I have left! :P
