This is my mother-in-law’s recipe. She makes it for every family gathering including Christmas and Easter. We usually eat it for breakfast, but then nibble on it all day long.
Mix together the ingredients for the dough. Divide the dough in half. Roll out the first half to line a jelly roll pan. Reserve the other half for the top of the apple danish.
Mix together the apples, sugar, flour and cinnamon. Lay across the bottom of the dough in the pan. Dot the butter across the top of the apple mixture.
Roll out the remaining dough to the size of the pan. Lay across the apple mixture. (This may be tricky, but it does not have to be perfect. I usually have to piece/pinch mine together.) Beat egg white and brush on top of dough.
Bake at 375 degrees (F) for 45 minutes. Remove from oven.
Mix together the powdered sugar, milk and vanilla for the icing. Pour on top of the baked apple danish while still warm. Cut into squares.

I think the frozen apple pie filling would work just fine. I’ve never used a processor for the dough, but don’t see why you couldn’t.
I’m having trouble uploading my photo … any suggestions?

Somehow I can taste this already. I love that it’s all one big pastry. What do you think of me making this using the frozen apple pie filling I made recently? This seems like a forgiving recipe. Have you ever mixed up the dough in your processor?
