The perfect apple crisp. It’s not too sweet and has a crunchy topping. Apple crisp for breakfast anyone?
Preheat oven to 350 F.
In a large bowl, toss together the apples, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg and pour into an 8×8 inch baking pan.
Then make the topping by combining the oats, whole wheat flour, cinnamon, brown sugar and salt in a bowl. Add the butter and cut it into the dry ingredients using a pastry blender or two knives, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Crumble this mixtures over top of the apples, spreading it evenly.
Bake for 45 minutes, until the topping is lightly browned and the filling is hot and bubbling. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
