This is my dad’s bread recipe. It goes wonderfully with soup, especially beef stew.
1. Combine ingredients except flour in the order given.
2. Mix until yeast and salt are dissolved.
3. Beat in the white flour, using electric mixer.
4. Add whole wheat flour, mixing with a spoon.
5. Let rise in covered bowl until it has doubled in size, 20-30 minutes.
6. Beat down using spoon, 250 strokes.
7. Divide into 2 greased 9×5 bread pans.
8. Let rise until level with top of pan.
9. Bake at 375 for 50 minutes.
