Description

These dinner rolls have a touch of sweetness with honey. Sweet honey dinner rolls are the way to go if you really want to impress at your next dinner party.

Inactive Time: 1 hour and 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1-⅛ teaspoon Active Dry Yeast
  • ½ cups Warm Water
  • ¼ cups Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs, Divided Use, Each Beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • ½ cups Buttermilk
  • ¼ cups Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 3 cups Flour (plus More As Needed)
  • 2 Tablespoons Cool Water

Preparation

In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the yeast and the water. Let it sit for 10 minute or until it just begins to foam. Add the honey, sugar, 1 of the beaten eggs, salt, buttermilk and melted butter. Whisk to combine.

Making sure your dough hook is attached, slowly add in the flour and mix on medium-low until the dough takes on an elastic texture. If you find that it hasn’t reached this elastic texture, add more flour, a tablespoon at a time. Once all of the flour has been incorporated, transfer the dough to a generously floured surface. Knead for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to an oiled bowl. Cover with a tea towel and let dough rise for approximately 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.

Prepare a 12-count muffin tin by spraying it with non-stick spray. Using a 1-inch scoop, scoop out the dough and roll into balls. Put approximately 3-4 balls into each muffin tin. You will have 10-12 “rolls” when you have finished. Cover the tin again with the tea towel and let it sit for approximately 45 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 400 F. Combine the remaining beaten egg and 2 tablespoons of cool water in a small bowl. Whisk to combine. Using a brush, brush the egg wash onto each roll. Bake the rolls at 400 F for 17-20 minute or until they begin to brown slightly on top.

Remove from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool. Serve with butter or jam and enjoy!
