A southern staple … cornbread that everyone will be asking for more, for sure!
Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease the bottom and sides of a 9″ round pan or an 8×8″ pan with shortening. Beat milk, butter and egg in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Form a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and pour all wet ingredients into the well. Stir until flour is just moistened (the batter will be slightly lumpy). Pour batter into pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
