Description

This bread has a great flavor. It is moist, light and has a crispy crust. A bread that’s so moist and fluffy that you’ll think you’re out at an Italian restaurant.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ teaspoon Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup Warm Water
  • 1-½ teaspoon White Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1-½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Rosemary
  • 2-½ cups Bread Flour
  • Olive Oil Or Melted Butter, To Coat The Top Of The Bread

Preparation

Mix yeast and warm water. Add sugar. Cover with a towel and place in a warm, dry place. Let the yeast proof for 10 minutes.

Add the oil, salt, Italian seasoning, black pepper, rosemary, and flour. When the mixture forms a ball, turn out onto a floured surface. Grease hands with butter/margarine and knead the dough until it is smooth, about 10 minutes.

Place the dough back into the greased bowl. Cover with a towel and place in a warm, dry place. Let it rise for an hour.

Punch it down and let it rise for another hour.

Shape into a ball and put on a greased baking sheet. Or shape into a loaf and put in a greased loaf pan.

Bake at 375ºF for 35 minutes, or until top is golden brown.

When bread is done, coat the top with olive oil or butter. Sprinkle it with more herbs or salt if desired.

This bread was really good! I didn’t have any rosemary so I used a reduced amount of thyme instead (about a 1/2 tablespoon) and increased the Italian seasoning to a tablespoon. Very similar to the bread served at Macaroni Grill! Delicious!
