I adapted the bread my mother made everyday of my childhood into a bread machine recipe. Just an old-fashioned recipe, with basic ingredients.
Add the ingredients to the loaf pan in the order listed. Select 2# loaf, your desired darkness, White or Basic setting. Different bread machines take different times to complete. Mine takes 3 hours, 55 minutes; my friend’s takes 2 hours, 20 minutes.
You can set to dough setting then bring the dough out to make dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, or whatever you would like to use dough for. A very versatile and easy recipe!

I’ve now made this bread 3 times and I love it. It turns into this nice big fluffy loaf of bread. Tastes amazing!!

I pulled my machine out of hiding yesterday and made this recipe. My machine now has a permanent place on the counter! My family raved about the bread!! Thanks for a fantastic recipe!

Just made this and the house smells wonderful! Waiting for the boys to get home from school to try it! If I don’t slice a “heel” piece before then!

This bread is wonderful! I baked it on the 1hour cycle, just to see how it would do, and it came out perfectly.
