Description

A very yummy and simple bread pudding that is sure to please!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BREAD PUDDING:
  • 2 cups Milk, Or More As Needed
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 1 loaf Crusty Bread Of Your Choice
  • ⅓ cups Brown Sugar
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoon Maple Syrup

  • FOR THE MAPLE CREAM SAUCE:
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 5 Tablespoons Maple Syrup

Preparation

For the bread pudding:

1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat milk just until film forms over the top. Add butter to the milk, stirring until butter is melted. Cool to lukewarm.

2. While milk mixture is cooling, cut the loaf of bread into small cubes. Measure out 4 cups.

3. Combine sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and maple syrup. Beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for 1 minute. Slowly add the cooled milk mixture.

4. Place bread in a lightly greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.

5. Pour batter on top of the bread.

6. Bake at 350F for 45 to 50 minutes or until set. Serve warm with chilled Maple Cream Sauce (see below for recipe).

For the maple cream sauce:

1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add flour once buter is completely melted and stir to combine well.

2. Add cream, vanilla, and maple syrup. Stir constantly for a few minutes until it thickens.

3. Remove from heat and refrigerate for a few hours. Serve cold over the bread pudding.

so, so delicious! i even put too much flour in the sauce and it still turned out great. 4 cups of a regular loaf of bread is about 9 slices.

if you don’t have stale bread, you can cube your bread and put in the oven at 200 for 15-25 minutes.
