This bread is so easy to make and sooooooo good! Toast it until crispy and pile on the butter and jam or peanut butter!
Lightly grease two 8×4 inch loaf pans; sprinkle insides with cornmeal.
In a large bowl, mix together 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda.
Warm the milk and water in a small saucepan or microwave until very warm (125 degrees). Add warm milk mixture to flour mixture; mix well.
Stir in the remaining flour, 1 cup at a time, until a stiff batter is formed. If dough is too wet, add more flour 1/2 cup at a time until dough pulls away from the sides.
Spoon batter into prepared pans. Cover and let rise in a warm place until dough has nearly doubled in size, about 45 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 degrees
Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Remove from pans immediately and cool.
**Bread can be made in smaller pans if desired.
