I created these because I wanted to feed my daughter something a little better than a granola or All-Bran bar. Now I love them!
Cream together the butter and sugar. Add honey, vanilla, salt, apple sauce and eggs as you continue mixing. Mix in flour, wheat germ and oats.
Spread the mixture into a pre-greased pan – 8″x8″ or similar. Preheat oven to 325F. I only had a 6″x8″ glass pan so my baking time was longer. I baked mine for 60 minutes checking every 15 minutes for doneness. If you use a larger pan, the cake won’t be as thick – so you’ll probably bake for less time. Press lightly in the centre to see if it bounces back or is still squishy being careful not to dry them out.
