Light and delicious Orange Rolls with a touch of cinnamon – they melt in your mouth!
Place 2 cups of warm water, 1/3 cup of sugar, and 1 Tablespoon of yeast, along with one stick (8 Tablespoons) of nearly melted butter in a mixing bowl. Let sit for a bit and then add 2 eggs, baking powder and 3 cups of bread flour.
Mix together and then add salt and 2-3 cups of all purpose flour. Mix and add more flour as needed to form a soft dough. Then, knead the dough in the mixer for 4 minutes.
Cover top of dough with a bit of butter or cooking spray, then cover with a towel or plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in bulk. At that point, punch down, and let dough rise a second time.
Divide dough into two balls and roll each one into a circle on a buttered countertop.
Melt 3 Tablespoons of butter and then put the zest of one orange in with the butter and stir. Spread this on the circles.
Then sprinkle with a mix of cinnamon and sugar. Cut dough in triangles and roll each triangle up, starting with the fat end to the skinny end. Put on a buttered cookie sheet.
Let rise for around 20-30 minutes and then bake at 350F for 15-18 minutes or golden brown.
Cool slightly and then frost with Orange Glaze.
Orange Glaze:
This is something I just usually throw together without measuring, so feel free to do that, but the above list has some approximate measurements.
Mix all glaze ingredients (except the juice) together in a bowl and add the orange juice to make a spreadable frosting. (I like mine just a little runny)
