Description

This is beer bread taken up a notch. Cheese makes everything better!

Ingredients

  • 5 Tablespoons Butter, Divided
  • 3 cups Flour, All Purpose
  • 4 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1-½ teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 12 ounces, fluid Beer, Dark Or Light (my Favorite Is A Bock)
  • 1 cup Colby Jack Or Cheddar Cheese, Shredded

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a loaf pan with 1 tablespoon of the butter. Set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, add flour, baking powder, sea salt and sugar. Stir to fully incorporate the ingredients. Pour beer into the dry ingredient mixture. Stir just enough to incorporate through the dry ingredients. Dough should be lumpy.

Add cheese to the dough. Mix with hands just until cheese is dispersed through the dough. Form into a ball.

Take the prepared loaf pan and place the dough inside. Lightly press dough to form a loaf.

Place in the preheated oven for 45 minutes for the first bake.

Melt remaining butter in a microwave safe bowl or cup for 25-30 seconds on high. Remove bread from the oven and carefully pour melted butter over the entire loaf. Return to the oven for 10-12 minutes. Crust should be golden brown and loaf should have a slight give when fully baked.

Place on a cooling rack for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Enjoy!

The Pub bread was excellent. Wonderful right out of the oven, but so good today by warming lightly in microwave , then melted butter while hot. Thanks, this recipe will be used many times.

I made this yesterday, but I used pepper jack instead of cheddar, because that’s all we had. I love it! I used low quality beer, which I think made the beer taste a little more prominent, but it’s so tasty despite that. Pouring the melted butter over it made my crust so crunchy and flavorful. I can’t wait to try this again with good-quality cheddar and beer. Thanks for posting this!
