Bread Monsters a.k.a. Hotdogs. Too cute!
In a large bowl add the dry yeast into the warm water and stir in the honey (or sugar). When it starts to bubble, the yeast is ready for the rest of the ingredients. Add melted butter, flour, yogurt, 1 egg and salt and knead the dough well!
Let the dough rise, covered, for about half an hour and then divide the dough into 16 equal chunks. You will need 15 chunks to form the bodies and the 16th chunk will be “body parts” for all 15 monsters. Roll each lump between your hands until it’s about 15 inches long.
Start by rolling a ball of dough around a wiener half, starting from one end until you reach the other end. This will be the body. Use a tiny lump (from the 16th chunk of dough) to roll out two tiny balls and place on top. These will be the eyes. Make sure they are close together or they will roll down when baked. Use a lump again (from the 16th chunk) and roll it out thinly. Cut the endings to form claws. Place just under the head of the body part (this is the arms).
Place them on a baking tray covered with baking paper and let them rise for 15 minutes while oven is heating up. Preheat oven to 400 F.
Brush the loaves with the remaining beaten egg and bake for 10-12 minutes at 400 F until lightly golden. Remove from oven. Cool on a rack.
You can freeze them after they are baked and save them until “just in case”!
