DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF METAL SPOON OR BOWL FOR MIXING AND DO NOT REFRIGERATE!
It’s normal for the starter to rise, bubble, and ferment. Burp as needed.
Begin with the Amish Friendship Bread starter.
Day 1: Do nothing.
Day 2: Squeeze the bag.
Day 3: Squeeze the bag.
Day 4: Squeeze the bag.
Day 5: Squeeze the bag.
Day6: Add 1 cup each of flour, sugar, and milk. Squeeze the bag.
Day 7: Squeeze the bag
Day 8: Squeeze the bag
Day 9: Squeeze the bag
Day 10: Follow these instructions:
1. Pour the entire contents of bag into a non-metal bowl.
2. Add 1 1/2 cups each of flour, sugar, and milk; stir.
3. Measure 1 cup of batter into each of 4 one-gallon Ziploc bags and give to friends with a copy of this recipe.
4. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
5. Add to the remaining batter: 3 eggs, 1 cup oil, 1/2 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla, 2 cups flour, 1 large box instant vanilla pudding mix, 1 cup sugar, 1 tbsp cinnamon, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp baking soda.
6. Grease THREE 8-inch loaf pans.
7. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 3/4 tsp cinnamon. Dust the greased pans with this mixture.
8. Pour the batter evenly into the pans.
9. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean. Cool the pan for about 10 minutes and then turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.

@Sweetwater: Starter recipes are all over. Just search for Amish Friendship Bread Starter Recipe. There are appear to be two main versions. One that adds materials by the cup and one that adds them by three cups. I guess it just depends how much starter you want to begin with.
However, I would tend to lean towards one that uses the one cup measurements and includes yeast.

This is one of my favorite quick breads. Delicious!
One thing we like to do to ours is sprinkle some additional cinnamon sugar on top of the loaf before we put it in the oven. It just adds that extra little sweet kick for the taste buds along with that nice crunchy coating on top.

A friend gave this to me years ago. We tried chocolate pudding for a change, it was delicious. What is the recipe for the starter?
