Description

Not my husband’s nickname, although he’d answer to it! Just a simple recipe for nutty deliciousness.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Egg White
  • 1 Tablespoon Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1 pound Pecan Halves, Or Any Nut, Frozen

Preparation

Preheat oven to 300F.

Beat egg white with water until frothy. Thoroughly mix in sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, and salt. Add pecans (or almonds, or walnuts, etc.) and stir all together until evenly coated.

In a jelly roll pan, spread nuts in an even layer. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring and scraping with a spatula every 10 minutes. Keep an eagle eye on the nuts during the last 10 minutes of baking. Your goal is dryness and a lightly toasted nut. Burned nuts are not good! Remove to a plate and allow to cool completely before storing.

The applications for these are endless. We are particularly fond of them chopped up into oatmeal!
