Description

A pizza tart that is cheesy, spicy and yummy. A perfect quick and tasty alternative to your pizza.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Puff Pastry Sheet (substitute With Homemade Or Store Bought Pie Crust)
  • 2 cups Dry Rice (or Beans Or Pie Weights)
  • 2 Tablespoons Pizza Sauce
  • 1 whole Tomato, Chopped
  • 1 whole Small Onion, Chopped Or Sliced In Rings
  • ½ cups Diced Colored Bell Pepper
  • ¼ cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Italian Herb
  • ½ teaspoons Crushed Black Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 180 C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper or foil. Brush it with butter/oil. Place the frozen puff pastry sheet on it and allow it to thaw.

Place another sheet of parchment paper on top of the pastry and fill it with rice. Then roll the edges of the crust to shape it like a plate. Bake for 10 minutes or until it is light golden in color.

Remove the tray from the oven. Remove the rice and the paper. Apply pizza sauce in the base (don’t cover the edges) and then arrange half of the tomatoes, onions and bell peppers over the sauce.

Cover it with cheese, mixed herbs, black pepper, red pepper flakes and salt. Arrange the remaining vegetables on top.

Bake it again for 5-8 minutes or until vegetables are roasted and cheese is melted.

Remove from oven. Cut into squares and serve hot.
