This bread is great to make and eat immediately. Make it before you start your meal, let it rise while you prepare the meal and eat it hot with your meal. Tastes wonderfully yeasty and buttery.
Take egg out of refrigerator and place in a bowl filled with warm water. (This makes the yeast work better-doesn’t cool the mixture down so much.)
Dissolve the yeast in the very warm water and set aside.
Mix together the warmed egg and the oil and add to the yeast mixture.
Combine the dry ingredients and add to the yeast mixture.
Mix and knead for just a minute or so.
Roll this out to dinner plate size. Spread with some softened butter and roll up. Tuck in the ends and place on a greased cookie sheet.
Put it in a warm place and let it rise for 20-30 minutes. (At this point, I split the top with a knife and pour on some melted butter!!)
Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until it is browned. Rub the top with butter to make it shine.

Excellent! Tastes like really good dinner rolls, only in loaf form. It’s a keeper.

Can’t wait to try this….I have never seen a bread recipe where you warm the egg…fun!
