Wonderful squares with a meringue type top.
Cream butter and 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white sugar in bowl with hand mixer. Add egg yolks, water and vanilla. Then add dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda) and mix together and pat into a greased 10 x 14 pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts on top. The chocolate chips and chopped nuts can be left out and the cookie is still delicious.
Beat the remaining 1 cup brown sugar and the two egg whites till stiff peaks form. Gently spread on top of chocolate chips and nuts. Spread to the edge of the pan.
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 F, cool and cut into squares.
