Homemade peppermint extract that you can use in your coffee, lattes, hot cocoa, brownies, ice cream, cakes, etc.!
1. Pick your peppermint leaves off and bruise by rolling them between your hands. Stop and smell.
2. Place peppermint leaves in a glass jar. Cover leaves completely with vodka or it will mold.
3. Put the lid on, place a sticker with the day’s date on it so you know when it will be ready.
4. Store the filled glass jar in a dark, cool and dry cupboard or pantry.
5. Shake, swirl and wait 30 days.
6. After 30 days, remove leaves and use in your coffee, lattes, brownies, ice cream, cakes, etc.

Yes, perfect for baking. I used it for my Chocolate Mint Truffle Kisses and they where outstanding. Wonderful flavor and knowing you made it is such a wonderful and accomplished feeling.

Can this be used in baking when peppermint extract is called for?

No- just shake it whenever you see it and think of it….Mine is in my pantry so I would pass by it and give it a whirl. I have started using it for coffee, hot cocoa and baking. It is wonderful!

Do you need to shake it everyday for 30 days, or just on the first day that you make it? This sounds so wonderful!

It’s all vodka so I would say forever! I should also note that I use at least 80 proof. Don’t let that scare you. It is the same way vanilla and other extracts are made too. This is so versatile, I put in my coffee creamer too for mocha mint lattes, brownies, ice cream, chocolate ganache….can’t wait to make my chocolate mint cookies for Christmas with this!
