Buttermilk and cheddar cheese come together in this recipe to make tangy cheesy bread.
Place buttermilk, salt and sugar in your bread machine. Add half of the flour and then all the cheese and then top with remaining flour and the yeast. Select the dough setting and press start.
When the dough cycle is complete remove dough and place in a greased loaf pan. Turn the dough in the pan to coat the bread with oil. Allow dough to rise in a warm spot until it has doubled in size.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F for 35 to 45 minutes. Remove from the oven, remove from pan and coat bread with butter to keep the crust from getting hard.

I have a friend that makes it with her mixer. She proofed the yeast with warm buttermilk and sugar for ten minutes and then used her Kitchen Aid for mixing. It also took longer for the dough to rise but she said it comes out great.

I really want to try this recipe, but I don’t have a bread machine … I DO have a mixer with a dough hook … anyone know if I could just use that to do the initial mixing?
