My Great Grandmother used to make these for us when we were young. They are from Czechoslovakia. They are not very sweet, but a tasty treat!
Mix butter, margarine, flour, sugar, vanilla together. Keep dough in refrigerator overnight.
After the dough has refrigerated overnight, take it out of the fridge, and start making small balls (a little smaller than a golf ball – I use a Tablespoon full) out of the dough.
After you make your balls, roll each one out into a flat disc, and add hoop cheese and nuts and a Tablespoon of preserves (or more if you’d like) into the center of the disc.
Then roll the discs up. Seal edges by pinching them together (you can add a little water too, if you need some adhesive) and bake at 350 degrees F until golden brown (roughly 8 – 10 minutes).
*Hoop cheese is also known as farmers cheese.
