An ice cream topping with an old fashioned flavor. Major deliciousness.
With a sharp potato peeler, peel the skin off the apples. Next remove the core. Now chop the apples into small pieces—not diced, just chopped.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Then add the sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Now add the chopped apples. Stir well and heat to medium high, just until it starts to bubble. Then turn the heat down to simmer, cover and let it sit there, stirring occasionally for 20 – 25 minutes or until apples are tender. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Spoon over your favorite vanilla ice cream. I listed Blue Bell in the ingredients but not everyone has access to it.
***This also works incredibly well with fresh peaches instead of apples!
