Not sure why it’s called French, but it is delicious!
First, bake your pie shell (use your favorite recipe or a store-bought) and bake according to package or recipe instructions. Cool.
Spread cream cheese that has been blended with a small amount of cream or milk to make it spreadable into your baked and cooled pie shell.
Wash and stem berries. Arrange one half of the berries with hulled wide side down on the cream cheese. Mash the remaining berries. Bring to boil in saucepan. Slowly add sugar and cornstarch that have been mixed together. Simmer for about ten minutes, stirring as it thickens. Spread over uncooked berries in the pie shell. Chill. Serve with whipped cream.
