Description

This is the best fried rice I have ever tasted! It is not like Chinese fried rice, because it does not have eggs. (This is good if you have family members who do not or will not eat eggs.)

Ingredients

  • 1-½ pound Water Maid Enriched Rice, Short Grain
  • 1 pound Lean Steak, In Pieces
  • 1 whole Onion, Chopped
  • 1 whole Carrot, Chopped
  • 1 whole Bell Pepper, Chopped
  • 2 whole Potatoes, Peeled And Diced
  • Accent Seasoning, To Taste

Preparation

Wash rice well (at least twice). Soak rice for about 2 hours.

In a large saucepan, add water to about one inch over the rice. Bring to a hard boil for about 5 minutes, uncovered. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes (or until the water is all soaked up by the rice).

While rice is simmering, in a large nonstick skillet, add 1 tablespoon oil. When oil is hot, add steak pieces and brown. Then, add onions, carrots, and bell pepper. Season with salt, pepper, and Accent to taste.

In a separate pan, deep fry the potatoes. When the rice is done, add the veggies and mix well. Add the steak and mix again.

Substitute any meat, poultry, or seafood you like for the steak. (Or leave it out if you want.) Add any veggies you like, also. I usually like all of the above, plus water chestnuts, bean sprouts, and peas in mine. I also usually add a couple of tablespoons of soy sauce to mine.

It is great to experiment with different veggies, meats, and sauces. You may find something you really love adding to your rice. You never know till you try it!
