Having trouble getting rice “right?” This is my foolproof method. You don’t need a rice cooker or fancy saucepan. The key to perfect rice is to use Thai jasmine rice. It’s slightly more aromatic and a little less sticky than generic white rice. If you think rice is “just ok” then try jasmine or basmati rice and you might change your mind!
Combine all ingredients in a pot or saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat, but don’t let it get out of control.
Remove lid and stir to loosen up the grains of rice and un-stick any from the bottom of the pan. This also helps ‘slow down’ the boil. Reduce heat to minimum, replace cover and cook for 18-20 minutes. DO NOT REMOVE LID. DO NOT STIR WHILE COOKING!
When done, fluff rice with a fork.
If you plan to use the rice for a chicken or beef based recipe, try replacing half or all of the water with stock to boost the flavor.
