Delicious, chocolat-ey, cake-like brownies! Hey- if they have zucchini in them they must be healthy, right? Right??
Preheat oven 350.
Cream the butter, oil and sugar together. (If using applesauce then mix it in with the buttermilk). Add in eggs one at a time until well blended. Mix in the vanilla and buttermilk.
Sift together flour, baking soda, powder, salt, and cocoa. Stir gently but thoroughly into wet ingredients. Stir in zucchini until well blended.
Spread batter into 2 – 9″ x 13″ greased pans. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 15 – 25 minutes.
Five minutes before brownies are done, dump the chocolate chips over top of brownies. Return to oven. Remove from oven and carefully spread chips over brownies in a smooth layer. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Store remaining brownies in fridge.

Oh no! I’m so sorry hollyz! You are right, the recipe is my doubled version! It should read 32 servings and pour batter into TWO 9×13″ pans! I corrected the recipe, I feel badly that your oven got messed up though I hope you have better luck next time and the recipe can very successfully be cut in half to use ONE 9×13″ pan!

Henrietta~this recipe sounded great! Especially since my zucchini is growing like crazy! I question the pan size though. I second guessed myself while I was putting in the 9x 13 pan, since it filled it to the top. But I figured it was your recipe so you would know better than me! LOL It overflowed all over the bottom of my oven and has been baking for about 45 minutes. I think next time I will use 2 cake pans.. and wonder if you might have had a typo on the size of pan? Awesome recipe though!!
